This is the website for the around the world backpacking trip of Robert Wright. I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying traveling and shooting the photos. Contained on this site are 2 types of photos. They include standard digital color, which I'm shooting with a new Nikon D200 and infra red, which I'm shooting with a modified Nikon D50.
About the infra red. All CCD digital imagers are sensitve in the near infra red wavelengths, although our eyes can't see infra red. Digital camera manufacturers place a filter in front of the CCD which normally blocks the infra red, but passes visible light to the CCD for normal photgraphic operation. My D50 has had this filter replaced with one that blocks visible light and only passes infra red. The result of this generates strange and unusal photographic effects.
